Tired of being hurt

So I had been chatting with this guy. He is great great. Some flaws, granted, that I can overlook. I thought everything was going great....Now he is telling me he is being deployed and doesn't want to have ties to our town. He doesn't want a relationship, which is fine with me, but he doesn't even want my friendship....Should I stop conversations with him? I am not really interested in casual hookups, I want a legit fwb. I want someone that can hold a conversation, we can go out to eat, and go to a movie. I don't want to invest in him anymore, but I kinda like him, but he isn't going to change a bit....lust can be frustrating as fuck sometimes. I low key really just want to make friends. I am in a new area, and pretty lonely most of the time.
