Is it wrong to ask someone if they say who they are? Apparently so!
Is it wrong to ask someone if they say who they are? Apparently so! With all the catfish in the world, why is it so wrong find if someone is real or not? I asked a woman for a picture of herself holding a sign that says "Ken I am interested in you!" With her reply she unloaded on me. "Why do I have prove I am real" she wrote back. She wanted me take her word right off the bat. It turned she was not real, it was a picture of a pornstar. I found that after reading some comments in her friend's list. I googled the pornstar and sure enough, there were her profile pictures on her website. I would like thank the person that posted her web page . No wonder she was so defensive. It was probably some scumbag living in his mother's basement creating false profiles for what purpose I can't imagine. Someone that has no life screwing with other people. Pretty sad if you ask me but this practice from what I've experienced is pretty common so when a woman questions me again about her/his authenticity, if they argue about it, I'll bet it's a catfish. Me on the other hand I have no problem volunteering sending a picture with a sign on it with that person's let them know I am real but when they can't do the , it's time move on. |

I have had that very same thing happen . If they are a real person they should not mind holding a sign in front of them .

buttonpusher747: always do a reverse image search. Google Bing or Tineye all have this feature.

people have said that there is a proliferation of fake profiles here...glad u caught it, in time. Just know that some people do not have pictures here for a reason, so they may not readily agree to your request, however, if she is genuine, something else that will satisfy you both should be offered. Good Luck ~~

And when you do a reverse search if it comes back clean , make a mirror image and retry, I used to spot a lot like that, but since the last major change, the scammers are very few now... Not wrong at all to ask, better find out sooner than later, I have heard of some guys getting hit hard in the pocketbook... Stop by at lonlyforlove2 also see Lunch with Lonly , we get snow tomorrow Check my blog on New Community, "A photo of my big Pecker" also, " My Sunday afternoon with the kids'

You should always be sure and never give out phone number ect.. until you are. I assume everyone is fake/scam until I know for sure.

We'd all like to think that there are those out there who don't mind sharing the responsibility of being proactive in an effort to take advantage of what this site offers. Using more than all the road!

i can totally except your excuse/reason about the picture... but my understanding would stop at the chatting part. therefore i would have to ask you... if you have already established a connection with someone. if you have moved to chatting on say hangouts, skype,fb, or other social media, then what would your reason for not showing your face be?

I have heard so much about this ' reverse image search', .Can anyone advise me on how to do it and what it is used for? People have referenced it with fakes and scams. Ive always advised people to watch out for their hearts and their wallets when navigating sites such as this ~~

I have been very fortunate i the past to have met several from here without sharing pictures. But with the proliferation of scammers I have become much more careful in what I share and with whom. If you dont protect yourself, who will? I never share phone or email until I have a comfort level established mutually (Virtual Symposium Group) use Virtual Symposium Group

Good post, thanks. As lonlyforlove2 says above, one way to spot fake profiles is to run a Google Image Search on the profile pictures, see my blog post "Fake or Fraudulent profiles". It's amusing to find the real owners of the photos! Good luck, AngloSwiss_ch
