It may take a day or two....

But I always manage to get that train wreck I call life back on the rails.

Just in time too!

It's been a morning full of calamities for me today.....

Made myself a peanut butter and jelly for breakfast today and discovered I bought the wrong damn jam.

I'd bought it before my dad died and.... If you read my blog you know about the half eaten PB&J that was on the counter....

So it's taken me a minute to want to eat one again.

But, there I was. Peanut butter on one slice of bread, popping the seal to the jar of strawberry jam and plunging the knife in to slather the other slice of bread.....

There's a lot of seeds in here.

That's funny.

When did jam get dry and crumbly?

It's kind of disappearing into the bread.

Sitting the knife down, I picked up the jar of strawberry jam and looked it over carefully.

Sugar Free

Eh.... Crap.

Now, I know it's not going to KILL me to eat something that is probably a hair healthier for me, especially after the whole bathing suit debacle, but the disappointment is real when you weren't anticipating the healthy version.

Especially when the healthy version is seedy, crumbly, and has an amazing disappearing act!

Happy Thursday!

I'm with bj in her assessment of it being off. Even sugar free should still have the same consistency of the regular jam/jelly.
This stuff is definitely not the same consistency....

It's the weirdest looking jam I've ever seen. The seeds are teeny tiny.... I've never seen anything like this, but then again, I don't every buy sugar free jam.

I had some leftover pizza sauce so I bought the stuff to make mini pizzas. I didn't check the sauce and opened it to find mold. Oops it had been in the fridge longer than I had realized. No problem, I have spaghetti sauce in the pantry, it will be a reasonable substitute. I grab the jar and pop it open and start spooning it on to the crust. WTF, what is this chunk of something in the sauce...hey...this doesn't smell like spaghetti sauce! Pick up jar and read it...SALSA! The jar of salsa looks EXACTLY like the jar for spaghetti sauce. So I scoop as much of the salsa off the crust as I can and stick that jar in the fridge and double triple check before I open the jar of spaghetti sauce. Felt pretty dumb, but in the grand scheme of things - not something to stress over.

Sorry about your yucky jam. Hope your day gets better.
Of all the things I had on my plate today.... Crappy jam was the least of my worries! LOL When I read your salsa story it made me hungry for salsa. I'm having chicken breast in black bean and corn salsa tonight. LOL

I think if given the choice.... Most of the time I would choose to not eat something at all instead of eating the healthier version.

It totally tasted like something was missing. It was a very tart tasting jam but BJ has me thinking there was something wrong with it though, on top of it being sugar free.

There's no FIX for a 'sugar free' treat that disappoints — when it's SUPPOSED to please.
Buy a 'fully loaded' jar and push that other stuff to the back of your fridge; or use it as a lubricant for squeaky doors. It won't stop the screeching, but your house will smell like an IHOP.
You'll need to purchase ant repellant and some bug spray.

There are consequences to every decision in life. Didja notice that? 🤔
I'm definitely not eating any more of this stuff. Now I'm worried there was something wrong with it. Yikes!

    Don't eat it!
Really! I actually bought it where I work, I'm going to bring it back tomorrow so we can do a product advisory with the supplier. Thank you!

I am going to throw it out, but I don't like honey. I've always been a strawberry jam girl, my grandma's jam was always my favorite though.

Having just made a big batch of strawberry jam, I can tell you that the only way I could make it seedless would be to make jelly instead.

Opportunity may knock only once, but temptation bangs on the door forever!

Hang in there, kiddo. It seems tough, and there’s going to be things for the next while which will take you back to one of these recent travails, but getting some other experiences in between you and those travails will slowly make it better. The good thing is you’re talking about them.

These types of experiences, and mine are a lot less challenging than what you’re dealing with lately, are part of why I don’t really look even 5 years down the road much anymore. Seems like one or two things can come along, and suddenly there’s a noticeable or significant departure from where you thought you were heading. Life - does it somehow get more complicated, once you hit a certain point?

Well … you know … the site’s contest this month is “wet t-shirt” … perhaps the bathing-suit debacle suggests that, presented in a certain way, you may indeed having winning assets? Trying to put an upside on one thing … ?

(Biiiiigggg hug)
